Romantic Roses -- Pink Friday at Make Mine Pink

I’ve never seen a rose that I didn’t love. From the first tender blossom of early spring, gently swaying in the breeze, to a beautifully and painstakingly stitched needlepoint, rich in history, I adore them all!

Roses represent so many different things to each of us and are often used to celebrate special occasions such as weddings, births and anniversaries. Roses have also been used throughout the centuries in grand estate as well as small cottage gardens, many styles of home décor and of course fashion. Milliners used silk roses to embellish the finest hats, while seamstresses stitches the richest brocade drapes adorned with roses.

Throughout the years, famous artists have studied and painted every aspect of the rose. Antique lithographs and modern impressionistic paintings inspired by the great rose artists from the 1800s, grace our homes today with their everlasting beauty. Roses continue to gracefully fit every lifestyle and décor.

If you have a soft spot for roses as I do, won’t you please join us for PINK FRIDAY at Make Mine Pink on Friday January 23rd as The boutiques at Make Mine Pink present “Romantic Roses.”

Making Way for the New at Make Mine Pink

The year 2009 promises to be full of fun and exciting themes for your shopping pleasure. Won't you join us each Friday as Make Mine Pink presents Shopping with a Twist?

Don’t you just love the first week of January? All the holiday trimmings are stored away, the gifts are in use or proudly displayed, our houses are freshly cleaned and organized, and all the proper pillows are back on the sofa.

But wait—there is something, just a little something, nagging at us. Yes, time for a quick change here or there. Maybe new pillows will make that sofa more inviting, a new rug to give the room a quick pick-me-up, some different everyday dishes would perk up the kitchen, or the fresh sent of a new potpourri will welcome us home each day. Well, that is it... the wonder of the New Year—we see everything anew.

The Boutiques at Make Mine Pink are experiencing the same thing. We love everything we offer in our boutiques (our merchandise is gorgeous), but it is time for us to straighten up the shelves a bit, look at everything with new eyes, and refresh our stock. So, we are celebrating this Pink Friday with a special “Making Way for the New” shopping event. Don’t be fooled by our fabulous sales, this is not old, dusty, unwanted stock. It is our usual, beautiful and unique merchandise! We just need it to go to a new home so that we can stock our shelves with new and even more exciting merchandise for the new year.

Don’t miss this once a year event! Friday, January 9th at Make Mine Pink!

How would I fix the car crisis

First of all I don't often get on a soap box, but every now and then I just feel I have too. The auto industry bridge loans begs me to speak out.

Why give the car manufactures the money when the cars on the lots are not selling. What -- are they going to continue to make cars that sit in lots somewhere? No -- the automakers have not shown they can run a profitable business. Also the dealers can't afford to get new cars when they can't sell what is on their lots.

I say give the 35 billion dollars to the tax payers in the form of grants. Car 5

If you gave a 18 thousand grant to individuals to purchase a new car -- not a luxury car but a good mid range car the government could buy almost 2 million cars. This would help the local dealers and give the parts, dealers, and the auto makers a new place to start.

Who would get the 2 million cars
1. People on disability based on ability to drive -- current car must be older than 5 years old
2. Single working mothers (have custody of their children) who we know make less the men do
3. Single working fathers (have custody of their children) because they don't receive as much child support because women don't make as much as men do
4. Working families

This is my opion but seems to me a better solution that what is being proposed.

Gas Prices how low will they go

Right now in Clarksville TN, you can buy gas for $1.36. This is amazing since it was over $4 just 3 months ago. Will it dip below a $1? That would be nice. What do you think?

Thank you for joining us for "Pink Friday at Make Mine Pink". We look forward to seeing you each and every week for "shopping with a twist."

Please join us this Friday November 28th for the last in a series of very special PINK FRIDAYS at Make Mine Pink. Christmas at Make Mine Pink.

While Christmas shopping usually starts early in November for me, The day after Thanksgiving is really the defining moment. I, just like so many others, pour over the sale flyers in the special edition of our local paper in search of great products at great prices. Per tradition, after Thanksgiving dinner, the men settle in to watch TV, while the women pour through the sales flyers and plan their shopping strategy.

This year I plan to do all of my day after Thanksgiving shopping, on-line. I'll snuggle up with a warm down thrown and a cup of coffee and from the comfort of my own home, start my Christmas shopping in earnest.

One of the very first places I plan to start shopping is right here at Make Mine Pink. Sure, it's Pink Friday, and I just love the recommendations from the the Boutique owners, but this week we also have a very special surprise for you!

This week we are pleased to introduce our very special Holiday Bazaar Catalog!

As you flip through our electronic Flyer, you'll find quick picks from your favorite boutiques with an easy - click to buy option. We recognize that our customers want beautiful products at great prices and this is just what you'll find in this fabulous seasonal catalog.

So mark your calendar, bookmark this site, and join us from the comfort of your own home on Friday, November 28th for the best holiday shopping on the web!

Christmas comes to Make Mine Pink

Thank you for joining us for "Pink Friday at Make Mine Pink". We look forward to seeing you each and every week for "shopping with a twist."

Please join us this Friday for the very first in a series of very special PINK FRIDAYS at Make Mine Pink. Christmas at Make Mine Pink begins November 21st!

It happened every year~ right after Thanksgiving dinner. The men would go into the living and laugh and tell stories, and that is where the women wanted them. As the women cleared away the food and washed a dried the fine china and crystal, the discussion began. As children we listened, and waited for the big reveal.

“Who will have Christmas?”“Well Dale and Anita have the new house.” (oh, goody a new house.) “But maybe we should have it at Rosie’s, then Uncle Dave could be there” (Rosie had a sitting room that was never used throughout the year but at Christmas opened just like the most gloriously decorated present)“Is it Marilyn’s turn?” (oh, yes! Marilyn had the very best sledding hill ever!)“How about Eddie and Ella’s farm?” (in the foot hills of Marvin, South Dakota, it was always a scene from an Norman Rockwell painting)

Truthfully, it didn’t matter much to the cousins, we had Christmas activities planned at everyone house, each a little different.

We knew Thanksgiving was just a prelude of the much grander holiday; Christmas was coming. Hundreds of relatives would dress in their Christmas finest, converge at the chosen location, and bring food. Oh the food would be grand; lutefisk, snadbakkels, lefse (with or with out sugar,) sage dressing with turkey liver, cranberries and lingonberries, oyster stew, yams with marshmallows. The finest turkey, the biggest ham and roast beef, too, all products of our farm lifestyle.

And the trees, decorated with all the ornaments collected throughout many years of celebrating, some handcrafted, some came in boxes of DUZ©, some newly purchase and some from the old country. And best of all, the ‘new’ bubble lights. Whoever created bubble lights was a genius to us as kids. We loved looking at each ornament, hoping someone would tell us a story of this one or that one.

Each year I buy a little more to decorate, add a new color here or there, purchase new ornament that resembles the old or an old ornament just like Mother had; building new traditions. As we place each ornament on the tree, I retell stories of my Christmases past and my daughters listen. I see in their eyes the understanding that Christmas is more than just us. It is traditions, families and beliefs.

Happy Holidays!
