Pink Friday

Stitches in Time; tiny stitches holding the hem of a linen napkin, stitches intertwined to make the most delicate lace, stitches crocheted by the smallest hook, stitches through canvas strengthened by wool yarn. It's these stitches created out of love that adorn a bedspread crocheted for a granddaughter's wedding, a sampler commemorating the birth of a child, a fine table cloth made to entertain the most important guests and family at Thanksgiving. Each of these stitches has survived the test of time and is so much more appreciated today as gifts from our past and treasures of our future. Join the Boutiques at Make Mine Pink for our "Stitches in Time" Pink Friday event, September 26. You will find the most cherished item stitched with time and love.

Please join us Friday September 26th for "A Stitch in time"

Go Red

Connect with women who share a passion for women's heart health

Host your own viewing party

It's shocking news for many people: Heart disease is the No. 1 killer of women in America.

Go Red For Women aims to bring this news out of the shadows and into the open. The first step is to start the conversation. Although heart disease is a serious subject, Conversations from the Heart: A Go Red For Women Discussion Guide gives you fun tips to create an activity that could benefit your heart — and the hearts of those you love, helping each other live longer, stronger lives.

You can get your friends, family members and co-workers to support each other by encouraging them to share their stories. Together, you can watch the first-ever Go Red For Women network television special and get the dialogue started!

One in three women has some form of cardiovascular disease. Sharing your personal health choices, successes and struggles can help other women live longer, stronger, healthier lives. Unique stories like yours are at the heart of the Go Red movement. So please, pass yours on. Connect with women who share a passion for women's heart health. Every time your story is heard, you've helped a heart.

Share your story and read others at GoRedForWomen.org/stories.

Beginning Sept. 20, Go Red For Women will be in living rooms across the country

One woman dies almost every minute from heart disease. Yet studies show that only 21% of women view heart disease as their greatest health threat. That's why the American Heart Association's Go Red For Women is bringing the faces of heart disease into living rooms across the country in a new NBC television special, Untold Stories of the Heart. The show, featuring Marie Osmond and hosted by Hoda Kotb, raises awareness through the personal stories of women living with heart disease.

The special will premiere in a limited number of markets on September 20, and will air across the country in the weeks to follow.

Sale Sale Sale

It's official. I'm moving to Asheville NC on October 7, 2008. I very excited because of all the place I have lived, Asheville is my favorite place. I am moving my business too. The beauty of having a website is that no matter where you live you can still have your business. I also plan to rent space at a shop in Asheville.

So to get everything together I am having a sale. Every thing in my store is on sale. This is not just a few percent off either. I have reduced every price as low as I can go. If I sell it I don't have to pack it, is my motto.

I will also be adding some things in the next few days too. So stay tunned.

Heart Health:

Take Control of your Health Information

We know how much living a life full of health and happiness is important to you. Making sure that everyone gets the best care available is one of the main ways to make that a reality. Owning and maintaining a Personal Health Record (PHR) is the first step to ensuring that your health is in your hands.

A Personal Health Record, or PHR, gives healthcare providers the most complete picture available of your current and past health, allowing them to provide the most effective, personalized and safe treatment possible for you and your family. You hold the pieces to your true picture of health. If you are looking for the tool to start protecting the ones that you love, you've come to the right place.

We'll help you get started. Visit the American Heart Association's PHR Resource Center today!

It is with sadness

It is with great sadness that I tell you my beloved grandmother passed away tonight. She was 94 and loved by all who knew her. In the end she died at home very easy with 3 of her children, a granddaughter (me) her sister-in-law and one of her daughter's-in-law. She will be much missed as she was loved.

As most of you know I had moved in with her 11 months ago to help take care of her. I am so glad I had the opportunity to do this. It was not easy but I wouldn't have missed it for anything.

This picture was taken a year ago of my grandmother, me, my daughter, and my great-granddaughter.

Bye grandma -- I love you

My Granddaughter is Home From Iraq -- Yea!

We headed for Ft Campbell at 8:30 a.m. and was bussed to where they would get off the plane. Of course we waited and waited for a couple of hours when finally they told us we could go out and watch the it land. It was such a collective sigh to see the airplane finally make touch down. The troops (granddaughter included) got to march right in front of us. We all went back inside where a brief ceremony with them in formation took place. Then we got to hug and greet the them. Afterward we had to wait another couple of hours before we could take them home. I am so glad they are all home safe and sound. My granddaughter is engaged to a real nice fellow soldier Matt. They were deployed together and plan to get married in October.
