The Thursday Night Women's Networking Hour

I had to cancel tonight's show to help take care of my grandmother. She is recovering from 3 broken ribs. The show will resume next week.

Also I am canceling the Janet Reads Jane Austen segment tonight also. Next week I plan to start over and only read for 15 minutes. Reading for 30 min was awful for me and for you who listened. This will be much better. Thanks for your patience.

Blog Talk Radio Interview

Last Wednesday I interviewed Erica from Meadow Street. We had a wonderful time talking about her busniness and the beautiful flowers she makes. Unfortunatly a technical glitch from blogtalkradio caused my show to not air or be archived. I still think Erica should get star billing and here is her website -- so check her out!

Radio Hosting

When I was a teenager Wolfman Jack was the king of the radio. I loved listening to him and always wanted to be a radio show on late night rock. In my 20's we would drive to the top of town mountain at night so we could listen to a similiar show out of Kingsport TN. Town Mountain was the only place in Hazard you could hear that radio show from. Well I have mellowed out some and now do have my own radio show. It is called the Wednesday Lunch Bunch on http://blogtalkradio.com/janetinky

The format of my show is for and about women. I interview women business owners, women who work in non-profit, and really women from all walks of life. Join us each Wednesday at 12:00 p.m. est to hear my show. If you would like to be interviewed please send me a message from http://blogtalkradio.com/janetinky or leave a comment on this blog.

How high is your gas?

Gas Pump This week gas here in the mountains of Eastern Kentucky went up to $3.35 per gallon at the two major stations. I buy my gas through a local grocery store and it was $3.25 per gallon. It takes a little less than 1/4 tank of gas to get to town and back. I can probably get 5 trips in. I am so glad that I only have to go to town a couple times a week for physical therapy on my arm.

Leave me a comment on how high the gas is in your world.

Support on-line businesses and save gas by having the post office buy gas to deliver your items.

Brain Injury Legislation for March Brain Injury Awareness Month

The TBI Act Re-Authorization bill has been passed by Congress, thereby securing the only piece of Federal legislation focused on issues faced by individuals with traumatic brain injury and their families, and the only Federal program assisting States to address these unique and complex service needs.

Next Week's Show on Blogtalkradio

I am so excited that next week I will interview Joyce Lucas from Make Mine Pink on the Wednesday Lunch Bunch at 12:00 noon est on http://blogtalkradio.com/janetinky

On March 15, 2008, in Chicago, at the annual Country Living WE aftenoon, Joyce Lucas will recognized as one of Honorees of 2008's The Country Living Women Entrepreneurs.

She will join the other deserving Honorees on stage for accolades and a question and answer session.

All the Honorees are featured in the March issue of Country Living, currently on the newsstands.

Her her own words, Joyce says:"This year I am so proud to announce that I have been honored along with 9 other women, the "Country Living Women Entrepreneur of the Year award for 2008 ". Grateful for such an honor, I am also very humbled. It is because of the amazing group of women that collectively make up Make Mine Pink, that I have received this honor. I will proudly accept this honor for all of the members at MMP."

Joyce founded in Make Mine Pink 2004, from a personal need to find other like- minded women who, like herself , were struggling to not only get their businesses started, but to gain the recognition businesses needed to succeed. Not only did she create Make Mine Pink as an online shopping mall, but she added a forum for the business women to exchange ideas and build friendships. To read more about Joyce, check the March issue of Country Living, the Country Living website and especially check Make Mine Pink.

Blogtalkradio show for Wednesday March 12

Hello everyone. What a day this has been. If you heard my show you'll know that while I was doing my show I was also helping my grandmother change her clothes. I didn't have a guest even though I did get my grandmother to say hello on the show. What a blessing she is to me. I hope I am to her also.

Well here are the resources from today's show.

7. Many of the fabrics can be reordered
8. They take returns
9. I'm sure there are more but I can't remember all the wonderful reasons and promotions they have.

Try it, I am sure you will love it. You can start ordering right here!

Spring is Coming

Today I was looking out the kitchen window and saw the most beautiful bird. It was sky blue with a rust chest and white belly. I asked my grandmother what it was and she said she had bird books to look them up in. We looked it up and it is an Eastern Bluebird that is starting it's migration. There was a male and female and we watched them for sometime before they flew away. It was such a special moment for me to look the bird up with my grandmother then watch the birds play.

Thank You Gifts -- Heart Sewing Kit

I've been trying to find a great thank you gift for my customers. I wanted something flat since most of my items can go in small boxes or envelopes. I've decided on these cute little sewing kits. I just make 2 hearts from craft felt and add some thread, needle, safety pins, and straight pins. They may not all look the same and may go through some iterations but each customer will get one.
